In the old Conrail days, the Conrail line through Astabula, Ohio carried several hot intermodal trains known as the TV-series mail trains. True-blue Conrail fans would say that Norfolk Southern has "black-mailed" this operation, as evidenced by this eastbound intermodal flying through Astabula on October 4, 2011. Southwest bound Norfolk Southern Train M-15 highballs through Astabula, Ohio at high noon on October 4, 2011. This train operates Buffalo, New York to Conway, Pennsylvania. CSX’s business train made a quick appearance on the Henderson Sub on its trip from Nashville to Evansville August 23, 2011. Wallace Henderson caught it at Pembroke, KY, that day. Nicely framed by the grain elevators.

Rex Easterly also sent in these aftermath shots of a train vs. tractor event. According to the email, a young man was driving his grandfather’s John Deere and ran out of luck. He was not injured. Bystanders were warned not to get near the tractor engine - it was still running.
