EARLINGTON, KY - An Earlington man was hospitalized in stable condition Thursday night, August 25, 2005 after his vehicle collided with a CSX's Q129 earlier in the day on the Henderson Sub.
Ron Harris was traveling east on Moss Street in Earlington at around 12:30 p.m. He crossed the tracks, stopping behind another vehicle waiting to turn at the intersection of Moss and U.S. 41.
Apparently, the rear end of Harris' vehicle remained on the tracks. A southbound freight train struck the rear of the vehicle knocking it into an approximately 10-foot deep ditch adjacent to the tracks.
Harris was taken to Regional Medical Center in Madisonville, Ky.
Earlington Police Chief Craig Patterson is investigating the accident.
