HANSON, Ky — January 27th, 2005, A Hanson man died Thursday when his car was hit by a train at a railroad crossing here, said Hopkins County Deputy Coroner Dennis Mayfield.
Richard L. Dressler, 71, 8010 Hanson Road, driver of the westbound car on West Madison Street, was pronounced dead at the scene by Mayfield. The collision with a CSX train occurred at approximately 2:50 p.m. The town’s crossings were blocked for more than four hours.
Kentucky State Trooper Lonnie Kavanaugh said details were sketchy at the time. Trooper Tim Bailey is the reconstructionist for the accident.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
